As required by section 39.3 of the Health Professions Act (HPA), CSHBC provides notice of complaint outcomes to the public. This includes extraordinary action taken by the Inquiry Committee under section 35 of the HPA to protect the public while an investigation is ongoing.

CSHBC provides notice of outcomes in relation to serious matters that result in limits or conditions on a registrant’s practice by consent or a suspension imposed by the College’s Inquiry Committee. A serious matter, as defined in Section 26 of the HPA, is a matter that if admitted or proven following an investigation would ordinarily result in an order being made under section 39(2) (b) to (e) of the HPA (i.e. limits or conditions, suspension, or removal from the register).

CSHBC also provides notice of matters that go by citation to the Discipline Committee. See the Hearing List for the list of upcoming discipline hearings.

Publication is made in accordance with the Act and the BC Health Regulators (BCHR) Framework for Public Notification. Notices are posted for 10 years, as set out in the Framework.

Pursuant to section 39.3(4) of the HPA, a registrant’s name, and/or details of a case may be withheld when the matter involves the registrant’s health condition.
