Notice of Proposed Amendments to CSHBC Bylaws

On December 21, 2019, the Board of the College of Speech and Hearing Heath Professionals of British Columbia (the “College”) approved amendments to the College Bylaws.

These amendments, as set out in the redline version of the Bylaws (PDF), are subject to the notice requirements under section 19(6.2) of the Health Professions Act (the “Act”). Notice is hereby provided to all health regulators in British Columbia, with a copy to the Minister of Health and other interested stakeholders.

Repeals the section and moves the content of the Board Member Code of Ethics to policy.

Changes the name of the advisory committee and ensures all 3 professions are reflected in the committee composition requirements.

Changes the name of the advisory committee to reflect the terminology change from “advanced competency” to “certified practice” and clarifies the committee’s terms of reference.

Changes the name of the advisory committee to reflect the terminology change from “support personnel” to “communication health assistant”.

Changes registration classification names from “Active”, “Conditional Active”, and “Inactive” to “Full”, “Conditional”, and “Non-practicing”. Adds a Conditional registration classification for the profession of hearing instrument dispensing (replacing the HIP Intern application classification).

Notice to the public has been posted on the CSHBC website.

As required under the Act, the proposed amendments will be posted for 90 days. Any comments or feedback on the proposed amendments should be sent to the College and the Ministry of Health, no later than March 20, 2020, to the attention of:
